Could not be more pleased with my new Skylark 2A

Just saw this beautiful all mahogany guitar at your new dealer in Rochester NY. I had traveled there to pick up something else, and came home with both. The Skylark has immaculate workmanship and set up, stunningly unique design and easy playability. A bound ebony fretboard and ebony bridge are impressive at such a reasonable price. Highly recommend this line to buyers and potential dealers. The mellow tone is a pleasure to hear.

Skylark 2A with fanfret and beveled armrest

I had thought about buying a Skylark when it was previously being made up to 2017 and cursed myself for not doing so at the time. I then looked online for years for a used one but with no luck. Imagine by surprise and delight when I saw that the design had been revived and was once again being offered. I was worried about buying a guitar made in China but took a chance given it was a very unusual looking guitar and one of the least expensive ways to get a fanfret. I ordered the guitar in March of 2021 and took delivery in August of this year. The guitar is beautifully made with excellent finish all around. The action was a bit high but I had the guitar subsequently professionally set up. After the set up, the action is wonderful. The fretboard is very tightly-grained and slippery-quick and, as others have noted, feels almost like playing an electric guitar. It is quieter than most acoustics but produces a lovely tone with balanced highs and lows. It excels in alternate tunings, holding the tunings easily throughout each song. My only complaint, such as it is, is that I tried to have the pickup added after my initial order. While I received an email indicating this would be done, I never received a bill for the same and sure enough, it came without the pickup. Overall, this is a wonderful addition and compares favourably to my Lowden and my Wren acoustics.

Traditional Tones from a Non-traditional Looking Guitar

I first saw the Skylark 2A in an Alamo Music YouTube video. I liked the look of the Skylark and I was interested in a mahogany top guitar to replace my Martin D-15 that I sold recently. I received the guitar about five days after ordering it and it arrived in very good condition due to a really good packing job. The guitar is not a traditional looking guitar with the offset sound hole but it is still very attractive. The wood on mine is really nice. Playability is one of its strong points as it plays like an electric guitar. The ebony fingerboard is very smooth. The tone is rich and well balanced with deep lows and crisp highs. Another feature I like is that due to the position of the sound hole, I as the player really hear the guitar. Projection is good and you are rewarded for spirited strumming and picking. It gets louder without sounding like it’s being overpowered. One thing to note is that the guitar I received does not look exactly like the pictures on the website. Mine had no body binding although the website shows mahogany body binding. This was not a deal breaker for me; it’s still a great looking guitar. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Great fingerstyle guitar

I am playing fingerstyle and I saw this guitar used by some youtubers playing in fingerstyle as well. I was really excited, because I had troubles playing my guitar. I have bought Skylark2A and I am super happy with the purchase. Guitar is amazing. the neck is thin, strings are close to frets. It's really easy to play and you can take complex chords and barre even with small weak fingers. I want to give a special attention to sound. It's great. I feared it might be too quiet because sound hole is small. But it sounds great and is pretty loud even unplugged. Overall a great guitar and I recommend it to people who want a specialized guitar with thin neck. N.B. Also the case is great. It's beautiful, sturdy and warm inside. So your guitar won't be affected during travels or weather change.
